Last week I had the privilege of hosting a Vsauce Mind Blow booth at the 2015 Google Geek Street Fair. The fair is dedicated to inspiring kids to get excited about STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) and Mind Blow was a perfect fit!
I setup a 3D Printer from Ultimaker and we printed some robots, we had episodes of Mind Blow playing on TVs in the background and chromebooks setup with EyeWire – a game developed by MIT that helps map the neurons in the human eye.
The main activity of the booth was to get kids to give us their mind blowing idea. We gave them worksheets that asked what problem their invention solveds and provided crayons, markers and colored pencils for them to draw their creation. And some Play-Doh for the sculptors.
It was a tremendous success – we received hundreds of entries and the whole day was a blast. Hope to be back next year bigger and better. Maybe with some holograms, augmented reality glasses and 3D projectors!
